Lorde Leaves Stage Mid-Show To Recover
Lorde was forced to leave stage for 25 minutes during her Saturday gig in Perth after becoming ill.
The “Everybody Wants to Rule The World” singer was just four tracks into her rescheduled gig at Perth’s Challenge Stadium Saturday night, when she had to apologize to the audience asking for time out to regain composure because she abruptly felt sick, The New Zealand Herald reported.
“Perth, I’m so sorry, can you give me one minute? I’m just not feeling very well,” the Grammy Award winner addressed the crowd.
A man then reportedly appeared on stage explaining that “technical issues” have occurred.
A few minutes later, the 17-year-old finally went back to the stage to restart with the performance but not without another apology and explanation to her fans.
“Perth, I am really sorry. I must have eaten something weird. I’ve never had to do that. I love you and I’m so grateful to be here,” she said.
Lorde (born Ella Yelich-O’Connor) seemed to have recovered from the brief blunder jumping right back into her set and belting every track flawlessly.
Forty minutes later however, after performing her 2013 hit “Royals,” the New Zealand artist took a moment to wrap a towel around her neck and huddle next to a fan, saying she “just felt tired,” according to Daily Mail.
In April, Lorde was forced to postpone her Australian tour under doctor’s order to rest.
She also reportedly withdrew from last month’s Glastonbury Festival to spend time with her family and has since been back to work for a follow-up to her debut album “Pure Heroine.”
