Dolly Parton Accused of Miming at Glastonbury
Fans of country singer Dolly Parton are divided over claims she was miming during her Glastonbury debut at the weekend.
The 68-year-old legend drew a bigger crowd to her set than headliners Metallica and Arcade Fire but her performance soon caused a Twitter show-down over her apparent lip-syncing.
British news presenter Kay Burley was one of the first to speak up, tweeting: “Oh, Dolly’s miming. How disappointing.”
This kicked off a war of words between fans of the singer on social media…with fellow celebs leaping to Dolly’s defence!
Singer Boy George snapped back at newsreader Kay by tweeting: “Well I hear you wear false eyelashes?” Erm, right.
“That’s not miming. If it appears not always to lip-sync that’s an HD live processor issue. You see it with reporters,” comedian Stephen Fry tweeted.
A spokesperson for Dolly slammed the lip-sync rumours, saying: “No, she sings live. Some people don’t know an amazing singer when they hear one.”
