New Guidance From Government Given For Singing Teachers In View Of New Covid Strain.
New Omicron Covid advice has been issued from the UK Government. The Government’s guidance for out-of-school settings (covering singing teachers) states that face-to-face activities can be offered to all children. Teachers should ensure that their studios and activities are risked-assessed and Covid-secure, following the Government’s contingency framework and guidance on working in other people’s homes where necessary.
We are not aware of any plans to reintroduce social distancing rules, but teachers may wish to prepare themselves for the possibility of this, or for students who do not wish to or cannot attend face-to-face lessons.
Face coverings are no longer recommended in voice coaching and singing teaching situations, both for teachers and pupils. My Singing Lessons teachers should be able to stipulate their own policy on face coverings. Private teachers who wish to continue using face coverings should discuss this with parents and/or pupils.
There is no limit on group size, either indoors or outdoors. However, Covid-secure measures, such as good hygiene and ventilation, are still required.
