Contact Lauren Dove
I am fanatical about the voice and first started gigging when I was 16 years old performing funk, soul and jazz. Up until then I was in every choir and vocal group I could join. I learnt to sing using mostly classically using the Bel Canto technique from my lifelong friend and teacher Ricardo.
Since completing a BA Hons Degree in Music at Colchester Institute I went on to study Gospel Soul and Jazz at Goldsmith’s College and was fortunate enough to start teaching with the Norfolk Music Service for the following seven years as peripatetic vocal teacher and workshop leader before moving to London to study…even more vocals.
I love ALL styles of singing and have taught an eclectic range of music from musicals to contemporary, jazz, classical and rock. My main passion is blues and soul music and I have been performing and writing with my duo Dove and Boweevil for just over six years. We have performed all over the country and internationally as well as recording. I am also lucky enough to be a member of London Contemporary Voices and performed with them at London’s Southbank Centre earlier in the year. They have worked with some great artists such as Imogen Heap and Eric Whitacre and have performed at the Royal Albert Hall and on Later with Jools Holland.’
The voice grows and changes as much as you do and I am fanatical about singing and encouraging good vocal health. You may find that you’d like to try new styles, learn to improvise, sing in Italian or scream rock and so I hope to give a fun yet thorough approach to learning that suits the individual and encourage you to feel comfortable, confident and above all, enjoy singing.
I have my own car and a keyboard if needed and am able to record lessons to hear back your progress.
I do have an amp and microphone if you’d like to make some noise.
