Jamie Cullum Supports Learn To Play Day
Jamie Cullum, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is supporting Learn to Play Day 2016. Back for its fifth successive year, Learn to Play Day will take place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March 2016 with more than 12,000 FREE taster music lessons on offer at more than 120 music venues, schools and shops across the UK
‘Twentysomething’, Jamie’s first No.1 platinum album, made him the UK’s biggest selling jazz artist of all time. The BBC Radio 2 presenter has been nominated for and won numerous awards as well as working with Hollywood greats like Clint Eastwood. Jamie can be seen playing live later this year at the Cornbury and Larmer Tree festivals in the UK and his new album Interlude, a collection of twelve traditional jazz tracks including Ray Charles’ Don’t You Know and Lovesick Blues made popular by Hank Williams, is available now. As Jamie says in his video ‘playing a musical instrument – its an amazing thing to have in your life’.
Learn to Play Day is the perfect opportunity for people to find out more about playing a musical instrument, whether a complete beginner, or looking to return to playing. There are venues all over the UK offering FREE taster musical instrument lessons, plus many events will have special offers available only on the day as well as special guest appearances.
Full details of the event, including participating venues and local appearances, will be found at www.learntoplayday.com. To find out more about the charity, Music for All, go to www.musicforall.org.uk or visit Music for All’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/musicforallcharity.
