September is a great music Month.

My Singing lessons have found that a lot of great musical events happened in the Month of September like on the 3rd September 1942 Frank Sinatra left the Tommy Dorsey Band and started his solo career. 10th September 1962 The BBC banned the Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett and the Crypt Kickers single ‘Monster Mash’ saying it was offensive. It eventually went on to be a UK No3 hit in 1973! (Now there’s a surprise!… )

15th September 1930 Hoagy Carmichael recorded ‘Georgia on My Mind’ for the Victor label. Again, it has been recorded by many artists; Ray Charles having a UK Top 40 hit with it in 1960. On the 21st September 1991 Status Quo entered the Guinness Book Of Records by appearing at four venues in one day; in Sheffield, Glasgow,  irmingham and London They performed at all four in a 12-hour period. On the 30th September 1984 The music division of Thorn EMI, once said to be the greatest recording organisation in the world, reported a world-wide loss of almost £4 million during the last six months.
