Tributes Made To Singer Katherine Crowe

Friday, May 9th, 2014

Tributes have been pouring in for singer Katherine Crowe who sadly lost her eight-year battle with cancer on Wednesday.

Katherine Crowe, 39, from the Isle of Man was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer.

Fellow performer Matt Creer, who recorded with Mrs Crowe, said she was “an unstoppable force of nature, both on and off stage”.

Despite her illness, she made a bid for Christmas number one in 2012 with her version of Charlie Chaplin’s Smile.

She recorded the song with the London Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, at Abbey Road Studios, in London, and described the experience as a “dream come true.”

The mother-of-two made music for more that 25 years, performing all over the island and in the UK.

Her husband Andy said his “beautiful, inspiring and perfect wife” had “slipped peacefully away” on Wednesday evening.

Close friend Christy DeHaven added: “Katherine was an utterly unique individual in her bravery, her humour, her talent, her wondrous stubbornness and her boundless generosity of spirit, even in the face of the most horrendous situations”.
