Opera Singer Lucy Kay Left in Tears on Britain’s Got Talent
After questioning her ‘right to be on this earth’, Lucy Kay sailed through to the next round of Britain’s Got Talent 2014 on Saturday night following an emotional performance.
Receiving a standing ovation from the judging panel and audience alike, the 24-year-old opera singer from Glasgow broke down after wowing with Puccini’s Vissi d’arte.
Prior to nervously taking the stage, viewers heard how the brunette beauty had been bullied for years before leaving her hometown of Sutton-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire.
Movingly speaking to the camera, her mother Glenis told how her confidence had been knocked when she split from Lucy’s father.
After Lucy told her all she wanted to do was sing after being left thinking she had nothing to live for, she showed off her astounding operatic voice, despite admitting to Ant and Dec afterwards that she thought she was going to get buzzed.
Judge David Walliams later told her: ‘You are very beautiful, with an even more beautiful voice. We were all incredibly moved.’
