Son of Edelweiss Singer Vince Hill Found Dead
The son of singing legend Vince Hill has been found dead just 36 hours after surviving a car crash.
Athol Hill’s Renault Scenic apparently skidded on ice and crashed into a parked car and brick wall near Henley-on-Thames, Oxon, on Sunday night.
The father-of-two, 42 – who has battled drink and drug problems – walked away from the smash and was taken to his ex-partner Liz Green’s home.
However, Ms Green was unable to rouse him from his sleep on Tuesday.
She called 999 but paramedics declared him dead. Police yesterday said they were not treating his death as suspicious.
Mr Hill – who had a No2 hit in 1967 with Edelweiss – is waiting for his son’s postmortem results.
The singer, 79, is currently nursing his wife Annie who is terminally ill with a lung condition at their home in Shiplake, Oxon.
His agent, Robert Holmes, said: “When Athol arrived, Vince and Annie were the happiest couple in the world.”
